Police nab 11, recover valuables worth Rs 81 lakh

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru North division police have arrested 11 persons and recovered valuables worth Rs 81 lakh from the arrested persons.

According to the police, the arrested persons include a gang that used demonetization to loot people. The police said that Rohit, one of the arrested persons, promised Pradeep help in exchanging Rs 18 lakh old n0tes for new ones for a 15 per cent commission. Rohit took him to a spot near the BDA complex, Nandini layout where a gang looted Pradeep of the money and his car. Based on a complaint, the Nandini Layout police nabbed Rohit, Chetan, Thyagaraju, Sagar and Girish, Srinath, Mani, Bharata and Kiran. The police seized Rs 6.6 lakh, a bike and a car from the accused.

In another incident, the police have arrested a goods tempo driver Babulal for carrying old Rs 500 notes amounting to over Rs 3 lakh and Rs 1,000 notes of Rs 7 lakh. Babulal told the police that money belongs to Surendra of K R Puram. The police have arrested Babulal and Surendra.
