Bengaluru: There has been a recent surge in cybercrimes targeting prominent government officials. A recent case has emerged in which a fake WhatsApp account bearing the name of Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda was used to deceive people.

In this incident, the perpetrator had added a photo to the fraudulent WhatsApp account, posing as Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda. They had been sending messages to multiple individuals, falsely claiming to be B. Dayananda, the Bengaluru Police Commissioner. However, the police have taken action by deactivating this WhatsApp account and are currently investigating the matter against the accused.
