
Bengaluru: A mathematics teacher has been arrested for assaulting a Class 10 student on Thursday, April 12. The incident occurred at Narayana e-techno school located at Vidyaranyapura on Wednesday. This came to light after a video of the teacher beating the student with a duster went viral on social media.
Shashank V, a class 10 student, was beaten up by his mathematics teacher during summer vacation special classes. According to parents and students, when the boy was talking to one of his classmates, the teacher got angry and hit him with a duster. However, following the complaint filed by the parents, police arrested 32-year-old Venkatasubbaiah under Juvenile Justice Act and sent him to judicial custody. According to police officials, they have booked the teacher on charges of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
Several parents gathered near the school on Thursday morning in protest against the teacher who hit the child and also against the school for conducting classes during summer vacations.
Srivani Y, dean of Narayana e-techno school, said that they had suspended the teacher after the incident and also raised allegations against the parents saying that the damage occurred because they had beaten up the child recently.
