Bengaluru: The JC Nagar of the city witnessed tense moments on Tuesday night after locals gathered in large number in front of the local police station alleging that a 50-year-old person had sexually abused an eight-year-old child.

According to the police, a the accused used to lure the child with sweets and biscuits. The parents of the child lodged a complaint against the person, who was arrested by the police and booked under the POCSO Act.

As the news spread hundreds of locals gathered in front of the police station urging the police to hand over the accused to them. They said they wanted to teach a lesson to him.

Additional police personnel were sent to the station to control the agitators. After an assurance from the police that guilty will not be spared the agitators dispersed.

Due to the protest, the traffic was thrown out of gear in the locality.
