Bengaluru: The Mahalakshmi Layout police approached the court on Wednesday seeking the cancellation of bail granted to N.R. Santosh, aide to State BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa. Santosh is the prime accused in the case concerning the kidnapping of Vinay, personal assistant to K.S. Eshwarappa, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council.
The police claim that Santosh holds crucial evidence, which he refuses to divulge and is not cooperating with the investigation. “Hence, we have approached the court with the request to cancel his bail,” a senior police officer said.
According to police sources, Santosh who has been questioned by the investigating officer is refusing to hand over the mobile phone which he allegedly used to contact his associates while planning the kidnapping attempt.
The police are now contemplating taking him into their custody for detailed interrogation to obtain necessary evidence for charge-sheeting in the case.
The other accused in the case, BJP Yuva Morcha Bengaluru unit’s general secretary Rajendra Urs, have confessed that they had attempted to kidnap Vinay in May to recover a pen drive and laptop in his possession.
