Bengaluru: Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation incurred crores of loss due to the two-day protest by garment factory workers.

The bus transport system not only lost on revenue but also loss of property as several buses were gutted when protesters set them on fire.
According to sources, the loss is estimated at Rs 4 crore, as 80 KSRTC and 50 BMTC buses were damaged. A loss of Rs 1.66 crore was incurred by BMTC because of cancellations alone and over Rs 60 lakh was accounted as revenue loss.
Renukeshwar B C, Chief Traffic Manager (Operations) at BMTC said that one bus was completely destroyed while two others were partially damaged when protesters set them on fire. As many as 31 buses were damaged in stone-pelting, he said.
The city witnessed 30 CAR, 52 KSRP platoons utilized along with 100 rounds of tear gas since Monday. The Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel from Coimbatore are also arranged.
