Bengaluru: Hundreds of inmates of Parappana Agrahara, the main prison of the state, held a flash protest on Friday, March 29 evening demanding non-vegetarian food. The stir was withdrawn after the jail authorities assured that their demand will be met shortly.
According to the prisoners, for several years, non-veg food was served to the inmates only on Fridays. But for the last three months, the supply of non-veg food was stopped due to technical issues.
On Friday, when the inmates went for lunch, assuming that the supply of non-veg food would have been restarted, it was not there. As news spread that non-veg food would not be supplied even for dinner, the inmates launched a flash protest.
