Bengaluru: Ola cabs in association with the government of Karnataka will set up breath analyser kiosks at more than 1,000 pubs, rest-o-bars and pubs across the state. The kiosks will aim to discourage people from drunken driving as Ola will facilitate cab bookings from the designated kiosks.

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs U T Khader who inaugurated the initiative at Social, a pub on Church Street, said “Driving under the influence of alcohol has become a major issue and it is extremely critical that we channelise our efforts to bringing these instances down to zero. This will happen when there are alternatives available for them to avoid drunken driving.”

The drive under RISK – Road Safety Initiative for Safer Karnataka, is a joint initiative by Consumer Affairs Department, Transport Ministry, Institute of Public Health and Ola. The kiosks will be set up in Bengaluru and later in various parts of Karnataka.

Raghuvesh Sarup, CMO, Ola, said, “Through this campaign, we are encouraging people to take safe rides back home after alcohol consumption and do their bit to make our roads and cities safer.”
