Bangalore: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced in the State Legislative Council that officials and other government staff who were subject to Lokayukta raid will be immediately suspended.
The Chief Minister said once the official is suspended, he will have to face stern punishment if the allegations of owning disproportionate assets is proved.
Replying to a query from Congress member Motamma during the question and answer hour, he said during the past two years. 166 officials and employees were subject to Lokayukta raid but only two were punished. Of the 166, a total of 58 are suspended while the rest are functioning in their respective departments. Of the officers targeted, three are IAS officers, two IFS officers, 47 A group staff, 46 B group staff and 64 C Group staff. Even four elected representatives have been raided, he said.
To another question from DS Veerayya, the CM said the KCSR rule will be amended to ensure punishment to officials after Lokayukta raid. The CM made it clear that there was no question of sparing anyone.
