Bengaluru: After having received assurance from the state government that a decision on the all-round development of the region will be taken in next 15 days, the various Kannada outfits who had called for a dawn to dusk North Karnataka bundh on August 2, have withdrawn the call. They have instead decided to hold protests in the major cities of the region.

Somashekhar Kottambri, president of the separate North Karnataka statehood agitation committee, informed that the bundh has been withdrawn after they received an assurance from the state government regarding the decision making on the development of the region.

Meanwhile, across the North Karnataka region including Hubballi and Dharwad, life goes on as usual. The KSRTC buses are operating as per schedule and there are no protests so far. In Belagavi, the epicentre of the agitation, vehicular movement is normal and schools and colleges are functioning smoothly.
