Bangalore: The north-east monsoon (NEM), which is expected to set in on Monday, will enhance the rainfall activity over karnataka in the coming days. The weatherman has predicted heavy rainfall activity over Bangalore and surrounding areas after Tuesday.
B. Puttanna, Director-in-Charge, Indian Meteorological Department, Bangalore said the monsoon was supposed to arrive over Bangalore on October 20, but the conditions were not favourable.”Moreover, there were only a few light showers over the city on Sunday. But from October 22 onwards, the city will witness heavy rainfall, especially during night hours,” he said.
Puttanna said there was a low-pressure area marked on the western side of Central Bay of Bengal and by Monday evening, the area is expected to be well marked and will take the shape of a cyclone.
“During north-east monsoon, five centres in the southern peninsular, Andhra Pradesh coastal, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and South Interior Karnataka will receive heavy rainfall. The cyclone which is just taking shape in Bay of Bengal is expected to cause rain activity over these regions in the next week,” he said.
