Bengaluru: One of the most common complaints against the speclialist doctors, especially those who are having PG/DNB qualifications is that they rarely come forward to join the government service to work in the district hospital. The complaint stand proven right as the Karnataka State Public Service Commission (KSPC) received lukewarm response for its notification inviting application for doctors posts in the government hospitals.
According to the KPSC sources, the KPSC had issued a notification inviting applications to fill up 1,072 specialist doctors posts in the government hospitals. But it has received just 707 applications. The notification was issued on September 24 and 15 days time was given to apply.
Interestingly, the KPSC has received more applications for anesthesia, ENT and orthopedic posts over and above the vacancies. For the rest of the posts, very few applications have been submitted by the candidates.
But surprisingly for general duty doctors, the KPSC is flooded with applications. For the notified 476 general duty doctors 1,824 doctors have applied. For these posts MBBS degree is the minimum qualification.
