Bengaluru: When you go out to cast vote either on April 18 or 23, it will be better if you leave your mobile phones at your residence. The reason? The election commission has banned people from carrying their cellphones within a 100-meter radius of any polling booth, including the inside of the polling booth.

Speaking to reporters in the city, BBMP commissioner and chief election officer N Manjunath Prasad informed that, as per the new rules of the Election Commission of India (ECI), mobile usage has been banned within a 100-meter radius of the polling booths. “Voters will not be allowed to take their mobiles inside the polling booths,” he said.

He also stated that only polling officers will be allowed to use their mobile phones near the booths.
