No dropping charges against BJP MLA, says High Court

Bengaluru: An appeal to withdraw charges against BJP leader Renukacharya for rioting, disrupting public life and other charges between 2004 and 2008 was dismissed by the High court on Friday.

An appeal was filed by the State government seeking permission to drop criminal charges against former BJP?MLA, M?P Renuka­charya, who was booked for several charges.

The then government in 2010 had decided to withdraw the cases against him and accordingly, filed an application before the trial court. The trial court rejected the application and the government had approached the High Court challenging the order.

Justice A?N?Venugopala Gowda upheld the order of the trial court and dismissed the appeal filed by the government.
