Bengaluru: Irked by reports suggesting that schools and colleges in Karnataka will re-open in August, state Minister for Education Suresh Kumar has urged the media to base their reports on facts.
It can be recalled that several media outlets had reported that due to the COVID-19 crisis, SSLC and PUC examinations, which were postponed by the department till further notice, have been cancelled.
The students will now be promoted based on their performance in the last examination in this academic year.
Reports also highlighted that the government came to this decision because it is not confident that the COVID crisis will come under control by May end.
Refuting these claims made by various media houses, the Minister said that the government has not taken any decision on the re-opening schools in August.
