Bengaluru: Putting to rest speculations about change of leadership in Karnataka, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Oscar Fernandes on Saturday said that Siddaramaiah would continue as Chief Minister and will complete his term.

Speaking to the reporters here, the Rajya Sabha member said, “There is no proposal before the AICC to change the leadership in Karnataka”.

When asked about the prospects of a Dalit becoming the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Mr. Fernandes said he would wholeheartedly uphold the aspiration in principle. “The AICC will respond positively as and when it is required to,” he added.

Besides, he said that the AICC had not received any complaint against Legislative Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa. “The matter is being discussed in the media. As per my knowledge, nobody has complained against the speaker,” he said.
