Bengaluru: As many as nine more people tested positive for COVID-19 and another person died of the disease on Monday, May 4 evening. Seven of the fresh cases are from Bidar alone. This brings today’s total up to 37 new cases.
The state’s total now stands at 651 cases, which includes 27 deaths, one non-COVID death and 321 discharges.
The second death reported from the state today is a 48-year-old woman from Davanagere, who is a contact of Patient 533. She has been designated as Patient 651. According to the evening bulletin released by the state health department, the deceased was admitted to a hospital on May 1 and was diagnosed with a severe acute respiratory illness. She had a known case of hypertension, diabetes and hypothyroidism. She passed away at designated hospital in the district.
All of the cases reported from Bidar, one of whom is a 16-year-old boy, are contacts of Patient 590.
The other two cases have been reported from the Bengaluru Urban and Davanagere districts.
It can be recalled that earlier in the day, the state reported one death from Kalaburagi and 28 new COVID-19 cases, out of which 21 are from the Davanagere district alone.
Like most of the 21 cases reported from Davanagere, Patient 651 is also a contact of Patient 533.
