Bengaluru: Here is good news. You can let your hair down till 2 a.m. this New Year’s Eve as the city Police Commissioner has allowed restaurants, bars and pubs to have an extended deadline.
Police Commissioner N.S. Megharikh confirmed that the deadline for New Year’s Eve was 2 a.m. “However, we want to urge citizens to celebrate in a responsible manner,” he said.

The city police have directed bars, pubs and restaurants to ensure that their CCTV cameras are checked and in working condition. “All establishments shall take all necessary precautions to maintain public order and not to create any nuisance to the individuals and public at large due to playing of loud music etc. However, playing of music shall be permitted only on the intervening night of December 31, 2016 and January 1, 2017. This order shall be treated as ‘No Objection Certificate’ for the purpose of obtaining necessary permits from the Excise Department,’’ he said.
