Bengaluru: The new investigation team of the CID has started probe into the Dr MM Kalaburagi murder case. It is said that preliminary investigation has brought to light some important clues.
Dr Kalaburagi was murdered in 2015 and the case hardly saw any progress thereafter. But the probe into Gauri Lankesh murder case went on in full swing with the Special Investigation Team laying its hands on the prime accused.
Hence a new team headed by DySP Rangappa has been formed. The new team has said that there is similarity between Gauri and Kalaburagi murder cases. The weapon used for both the murders are of the same range-0. 65 pistols and even the style of executing the crimes have been similar. The CID, it is said wants to now interrogate Gauri Lankesh murder accused.
Meanwhile, Kalaburagi’s family had moved the Supreme Court questioning the delay in investigation. The case will come up for hearing on January 15. If at all the Apex court hands over the case to the CBI, then the exercise by the new CID will go futile. Hence the CID team has decided to wait for the decision of the SC, said sources.
