Bengaluru: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Bengaluru, arrested a lecturer on February 5, who had two parcels containing 16 grams of methamphetamine (MDMA) in his possession.
He had received the white crystalline, a psychotropic drug popularly known as ‘ecstasy’, which was packed inside notebooks, and shipped from Mumbai through a courier service.
The 27-year-old, is an assistant lecturer at a college in Bengaluru, and holds an M.Tech in Civil Engineering. He was previously an addict who is now peddling drugs in small quantities.
NCB officials have detained the lecturer and seized the drugs when he came to collect it after receiving a tip-off. Officials are now following up on his contact person in Mumbai.
Reportedly, the value of the drugs seized is around Rs 60,000. Being the drug of choice in psychedelic parties, a gram of MDMA costs around Rs 6,000.
The effects of MDMA last from 3-8 hours and include euphoria, heightened emotions, heightened sense of mental clarity, hallucinations, decreased appetite and thirst.
