National Voters’ Day observed in ‘Silicon City’, voter IDs issued to new applicants

Bengaluru: Marking January 25 as National Voters’ Day, Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala inaugurated the programme organised with the theme “Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy” at Town Hall, Bengaluru on Saturday, January 25.

The Governor administered a National Voters’ Day pledge to the gathering.

Later, he gave away EPIC cards to the newly-registered voters and felicitated Zilla Panchayat CEOs (who served as SVEEP Nodal officers) and District Election Officers for their efforts and quality work rendered during the 2019 general elections.

Meanwhile, children who had won state-level competitions such as quiz, collage, drawing and painting competitions, were awarded prizes.

Chief Electoral Officer Sanjiv Kumar, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner B H Anil Kumar, and others were present.
