Bengaluru: Congress will field party leader from Kolar, Naseer Ahmed, in the state legislative council chairman election to be held on February 9.

Post is vacant after the resignation of Pratapchandra Shetty from Kundapur who lost a majority.

Senior JDS leader Basavaraj Horatti will be JDS-BJP alliance candidate.

Earlier with the help of JDS, BJP leader Pranesh was elected as vice chairman of the council.
