Bengaluru: Mangaluru MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has officially taken over charge as the BJP’s Karnataka unit president from Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa. He was, on Tuesday, August 27, felicitated by the latter after he took charge in a formal ceremony in Bengaluru.
Nalin was appointed as the BJP’s new state chief on August 20, in a press statement released by the party. The release stated that the party’s national president Amit Shah has appointed the three-time MP from Mangaluru as the new state unit president with immediate effect.
Nalin is a building contractor by profession and has been an RSS worker since the age of 18. He began his political career in the BJP in the year 2004.
Most recently, he defeated the Congress party’s candidate Mithun Rai in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections to become MP for the third time from Mangaluru.
