Mother throws daughter to death from third floor

Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a nine-year-old girl died on the spot after being thrown down allegedly by her mother from the terrace of a three-storey residential building where they were living at Jaraganahalli in J.P. Nagar on Sunday.

The police have identified the victim as Ashika who was living with her mother Swathi Sarkar, 30, a native of West Bengal. The police said Swathi Sarkar was living at a rented accommodation for the past one year.

The police said the residents, who saw the girl bleeding, barged into the house, pulled the mother out, thrashed her and tied her to an electricity pole before alerting the police.

Meanwhile, a few residents rushed Ashika to a nearby hospital where the doctor declared her as brought dead. Inquiries revealed that Swati, formerly a teacher in a private school, had separated from her husband, Kanchan Sarkar, a senior business analyst with a leading IT firm.

The police said the incident took place around 3.30 p.m. The girl died after she was thrown down to the ground for the second time by her mother, the police said.
