Bengaluru: A mother who was set on fire by her own son died at a city private hospital.

According to the Sadashivanagar police, Bharati (52), a resident of Ashwattanagar in the city was set on fire by her son Uttam Kumar recently. Kumar set his mother on fire after pouring petrol as she declined to give him money to purchase liquor.

“She had sustained burn injuries on her face, chest, and legs. Even though she was admitted to a private hospital, she didn’t recover. She died on Thursday late evening,” police informed.

“Uttam Kumar has been taken into police custody for investigation,” police informed.
