Bengaluru: The Rajanukunte police have registered a case against a realtor and private financier for allegedly assaulting the headmistress of a private school in her office on Monday for failing to pay the interest on a loan.
The victim, Asha Rao, is the headmistress of Aryan school in Singanayakanahalli. She had borrowed Rs. 70,000 from Ramakrishnappa, who runs a private finance company. According to the police, she failed to pay the interest for the last four months.
On Monday afternoon, Ramakrishnappa barged into her office. He allegedly used foul language, slapped her and demanded the money. When he barged into her office, Asha was with three students. Once Ramakrishnappa barged in, she sent them out.
Once the students left the room, Ramakrishnappa allegedly pulled out a rope from his pocket and began to whip Asha. Hearing her cries for help, school staff rushed inside. On seeing them, Ramakrishnappa left in a huff.
The entire incident was recorded in the CCTV camera installed inside the office.
Later in the day, Asha informed the management about the incident and filed a complaint with the Rajanukunte police. The police registered a case of assault, outraging the modesty of a woman, robbery and also under various sections of the Karnataka Prohibition of Charging of Exorbitant Interest Act against Ramakrishnappa.
They later questioned Janardhana, son of Ramakrishnappa and leader of BJP Yuva Morcha. However, the victim stated that he had nothing to do with the alleged attack.
“We have formed a team to nab Ramakrishnappa who is on the run. He will be arrested soon,” a senior police officer said.
