Bengaluru: A Sudanese student mistaken as thief was thrashed brutally by localites on Sunday late night, May 1.

The victim is identified as Alex, a native of South Sudan.

Alex was residing in Hennur main road and pursuing graduation at a private college nearby.

Locals and passerby developed suspicion over him as he was strolling in and around the same lanes for quite a while.

He behaved rudely when locals asked about his whereabouts, thus leading local residents to thrash him black and blue before taking him to police station.

The air cleared after the police intervention and the student was sent back.

Police ruled out any sort of racist motives.
