Bengaluru: Atreyee Majumdar, a 35-year-old anthropologist went missing about five days ago and it is now believed that the alumnus of the National Law School of India University may have had left her house out of her own choice.
Marthahalli police, on Tuesday gave out this detail.
Atreyee’s father Biplab Majumder filed a complaint on April 5, stating that his daughter, who left home at 9pm the previous day, hadn’t returned or contacted them.
She had reached Bengaluru on April 4 from Toronto. On reaching home,she had reportedly headed directly to her room to take rest. At about
9 pm she had ventured out of her home with her purse, even leaving behind her mobile phone, her father told.
It is said that the lady had then lived in two hotels after leaving home-Novotel Hotel in Marthahalli and Marriot Hotel in Bellanduru. CCTV footage shows Atreyee checking out on April 6 all alone.
Apart from NLSUI, Atreyee studied at Yale before going to Toronto for post-doctoral research with a fellowship from the Andrew W Mellon Foundation.
