Bengaluru: Mangala Gowri, a resident of KG Nagar on Kanakpura Road was slashed with a machete by two men, identified as Krishna and Sandeep. Her hand from the wrist downwards was separated from her arm in the incident. Fortunately for her, doctors managed surgically to put it back in place. The incident took place at Herohalli near Tavarekere on Magadi Road.
According to reports, Gowri had rented out one of her houses to Nanje Gowda however he had moved out long ago. The two men came in search of him, upset over a lorry purchase deal, and demanded to see him at the given address.
They came repeatedly to Gowri’s house and threatened her, that they wanted to meet Gowda, however even after informing them several times that Gowda had shifted, they did not relent, believing that Gowri was dodging them with false information.
On the day of the incident the men armed with a machete barged into the building and went to the portion where Gowda used to live. They found another tenant called Kumar, they allegedly dragged him out and assaulted him. When Gowri intervened, in a fit of rage, they slashed the machete at her. The attack separated her left wrist from her hand.
Hearing her screams, her husband Raghavendra came to rescue; the men assaulted him as well. They then fled, and neighbours, who had heard Gowri screaming, rushed to help.Gowri was taken to the hospital at Sunkadakatte. The doctors rejoined her hand after an operation.
A case has been registered at Tavarekere police station, and the cops are looking for Krishna and Sandeep, who are absconding.
