Bengaluru: A rag picker from West Bengal was electrocuted by miscreants during late hours of Monday in Bengaluru.

The spine chilling incident took place in Marthahalli police station limits and the deceased has been identified as Basheer. Two other companions of Basheer were beaten up black and blue by four miscreants.

It is said that Basheer and his companion-Hafeezullah and Azmail were facing theft charges and the three were attacked due to the same reason. The miscreants had tortured Basheer throughout the day before electrocuting him, it is learnt.

Basheer had got married about one year ago and two months back he has come to Bengaluru with Hafeezullah and Azmail to work as scrap collector. He was living in a shanty on the land that belonged to Basu Reddy, a local who ran a water tanker business. At present Basu Reddy’s name is making rounds as accused in the murder case.

Basheer’s dead body has been forwarded for a post mortem while the two injured have been admitted to a private hospital.

Marthahalli police is on a look out for the accused.
