Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, the city witnessed an explosion on Sunday, March 8 noon at Dairy Circle near Adugodi.
According to the police sources, the blast occurred at a place where the waste was dumped.
A rag picker named Narasimaiah (50) suffered severe injuries in the explosion. He was immediately shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao took to Twitter and wrote, “Minor explosion of an abandoned chemical liquid container at Adugodi used for cutting granite. One person injured. Nothing to worry and panic.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Srinath Joshi visited the spot, assessed the situation and informed the mediapersons that the blast near Lord Ganesha Temple might have occurred due to a poisonous chemical substance exposed to sunlight. He said that a case was registered at the Adugodi Police Station under suitable Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections.
DCP Srinath also said that the blast looked intentional and that the samples were collected by the forensic officials.
