Minister Umashree launches online service for senior citizens and physically-challenged people

Bengaluru: Minister for Women and Child Welfare Umashree on Saturday launched a website for the benefit of physically-challenged and senior citizens in the state. The website will have the information on the 24 welfare schemes launched by the state government for physically-challenged and senior citizens.

Speaking with media persons here Minister Umashree said the availability of the information on the website about the welfare schemes would be a great help for the senior citizens and physically-challenged. “They need not to run pillar to post to file an application to avail the benefits of welfare schemes. Now, they can submit the applications online,” Minister Umashree said.

The minister said the objective of launching the website was to enable the physically-challenged people and the senior citizens to submit application online from anywhere in the state. “I want the department of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens should provide the information about the all welfare schemes on this website. This facility would help physically-challenged and senior citizens not only to save money but also their precious time,” the minister said.

Applications can be submitted online for identity card, scholarship for students with disabilities, incentive scheme for meritorious students, reimbursement of fee of higher education, aids and appliances, child care allowance, marriage scheme, medical relief fund, award to individuals, award to organization, award to specialized teachers, motorized two-wheelers, talking laptop, empanelment of NGOs, Senior citizens helpline progress report, application for child centric grant, application for working women hostel grant, application for senior citizens helpline grant.
