Bengaluru: S J Mohan Kumar, a typist in the office of social welfare minister Puttaranga Shetty, from whom the Vidhana Soudha police had seized Rs 25.76 lakhs in cash, confessed to the police that it was bribe money given by a few contractors to give to the minister. Based on his statement, the city police has transferred the case to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
According to sources in the Vidhana Soudha police station, Kumar informed that the cash was given by four persons- Krishnamurthy, Manju, Nanda, and Anantu on behalf of a few contractors. “I was taking the money for the minister,” he confessed.
The confession statement is expected to create more problems for the minister with the BJP likely to use the statement to step up their attacks on the coalition government.
