Dr C N Ashwath Narayan Releases Meera Bai Song, Theme Music

Bengaluru: Commemorating the 525th birth anniversary of Meera Bai recently PM Modi stated “The birth anniversary of Meera is not just the birth anniversary of a saint but a celebration of Bharat’s entire culture and tradition of love.” To promote the splendour of our Bharat culture and traditions around the world, a team from Austin, Texas, led by Vinitha Subramanian, has teamed up with Indian Music Composer Mahesh Mahadev and playback Singer Dr Priyadarshini.

An original musical and theatrical play, “Meera – The Way of the Storm,” is all set for its release. Dr C. N. Ashwath Narayan, MLA, Malleshwara and Former Deputy Chief Minister, Karnataka who is always there to support artists to help keep their passion alive released the first song of this play ‘Ghoomar Mukhdani Maya Lagi Re’ and the ‘Meera Theme music’ on Monday, 1 Jan 2024 at 9:30 a.m. in Bengaluru.

Meera-Bai-AnniversaryThe play is written by the award-winning author Usha Akella and the first show will be showcased in Austin, Texas on 13 and 14 Jan 2024. The original music and background score is composed by Mahesh Mahadev. There are twelve songs, and theme music in this play which have been composed in different Hindustani classical ragas with traditional Indian instruments to bring the flavor of nativity.

Being a film musician he has added the cinematic touch to these songs. Priyadarshini, who has sung for more than 180 movies in different languages, has lent her voice to the songs in Hindi, Rajasthani, Gujarati and Braj languages in this play. The lyrics have been taken from the original songs written by Meera Bai and Indira Devi.

Indian record label PM Audios and Entertainments bagged the audio rights and the music will be available on all OTT and streaming platforms worldwide.

Vinitha Subramanian plays the lead role of Meera. Anu Nistala, Siya Majumdar, Disha Nistala, Prasenjit Biswas, Tanvi Siruvuri and Kailas Jawadekar are among the other actors in the cast. The team plans to showcase this musical in other regional languages in various countries.
