Ramanagara: An altercation between a husband and wife escalated and ended tragically on Saturday, June 30.

Rekha (22), was married to Shiv (40) and together, they had two children. Around a month ago, Rekha left the home but returned on Friday, June 29.

Shiv (40) and his wife Rekha (22) got into a heated argument on Saturday during the course of which, Shiv struck his wife with a wooden stick. Rekha suffered severe head injuries as a result of the blow and succumbed soon after.

Terrified by what had happened, Shiv quickly poisoned the food meant for their two children and then hanged himself.

Seeing that no one had left the house the entire day, the neighbours grew suspicious and went to check on the family on Saturday evening. When they got no response, they checked the window and found the family.

Luckily, both the children managed to escape death and they were rushed to Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

The Kanakpura town police have registered a case.
