Bengaluru: Raghavendra, Circle Police Inspector of Malur police station on Tuesday reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.
According to police sources, Raghavendra, a 2003 batch inspector, shot himself in the head with his service revolver in Malur police station. It is believed that deceased had left a suicide note claiming that he was responsible for his death.
Raghavendra had worked as Circle Police Inspector at Nandagudi and Sarjapur police stations. He hailed from Vemagal in Kolar district. Kolar Superintendent of Police Divya Gopinath visited the spot. It is said that a case was pending in the High Court against the deceased. The case was booked by Karnataka Lokayukta for his alleged involvement in gambling. “Raghavendra was a good and efficient officer. He was working hard and there were no complaints from him against any pressure from politicians or higher police officials,” Divya Gopinath said.
