Bengaluru: A teacher at a madrasa was arrested on Sunday on the charge of sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy for one year.

The accused, Mohammed Abdul Zuber, 35, a native of Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh is a resident of Shivajinagar. The police said Zuber would often take the boy home under the pretext of tutoring him privately. “He would then sexually abuse him. It happened multiple times in the last one year,” said an officer.

The boy told his parents about it only recently, following which they lodged a complaint on Saturday.

Zuber has been working in the madrasa for the past four years. He was earlier employed with another madrasa in east Bengaluru. Zuber and his family had moved to Bengaluru from Hindupur several years ago and were staying in Shivajinagar.

There are about 60 students in the madrasa. The police said they are yet to get more details or evidence if Zuber had sexually abused other students as well.
