Bengaluru: Basava Machideva Swamiji of the Madiwala community, ascended the throne on Sunday, a new moon day.

Shivamurthy Murugha Sharana of Chithradurga Brahanmata presided over the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Basava Machideva seer stated that he is ascending the throne on a new moon day in order to eradicate superstitious beliefs associated with the day.

On the occasion, he also urged the state government to include the Madiwala community in the SC category.
