M Krishna Reddy unanimously elected as Deputy Speaker

Bengaluru: Chintamani MLA M Krishna Reddy was unanimously elected as the Deputy Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly on July 6.

Soon after the assembly was in session Speaker Ramesh Kumar initiated the process to elect the deputy speaker. Senior JD(S) member KM Shivalinge Gowda proposed Reddy’s name while K Gopalaiah seconded it.

The opposition BJP did not field any candidate. The proposal to elect Reddy as Deputy Speaker was adopted by a voice vote.

After the election, both Chief Minister Kumaraswamy and opposition leader Yeddyurappa escorted Krishna Reddy to Deputy Speaker’s chair.
