Bangalore: In a recent complaint made by Saidutta, president of Karnataka Janahita Vedike, who alleged violations of advertisement by-laws and inaction of BBMP, the UPA Lokayukta Justice Subhash B Adi has come out stern.

Several top BJP leaders have been held in a case pertaining to illegal hoardings and flexes during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to the city last month.

Justice Adi on Wednesday October 1, sought an action taken report against many BJP leaders including former chief minister Jagadish Shettar, former home minister R Ashok, former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, union railways minister DV Sadananda Gowda, Member of Parliament PC Mohan and former minister Aravind Limbavali.

BBMP assistant commissioner for advertisement submitted that although permission was sought for only 50 kgs of bunting and 90 flexes, a huge number of advertisements were displayed across the city during Modi’s two-day visit on September 23-24.

Based on the submission, Justice Adi had summoned the police commissioner. The additional commissioner of police (crime) said action would be initiated against police officers who refused to register a case against those putting up illegal hoardings.

Justice Adi has ordered that a case be booked against all political leaders whose photos were on the flexes.
