Lokayukta raids 6 officers, seize Rs. 8.4 crore

Bengaluru: The Lokayukta investigators on Thursday conducted simultaneous raids on the residences of six government officials including a woman official and unearthed assets worth Rs 8.4 crore disproportionate to their known source of income. 

According to the reports, the Lokayukta raids were started from the wee hours of Thursday in places including Bengaluru Rural, Bidar, Chamarajanagar, Kalaburagi and Mysuru, which belong to the accused government officials.

The officials who were caught are identified as MG Srinivasamurthy (Account Superintendent, BDA), Shashikanth H (Range Forest Officer posted OOD to the office of the Joint Director of Agriculture, Bidar), Dr N Karunakar (Medical Officer, T. Narasipura Governement Hospital, Mysuru), Mohammed Haji (Assistant Executive Engineer, Range office – 3, Kalaburagi City Corporation), D B Lingannaiah (Project Director, DC office, Mysuru) and S Parvathamma (Office Manager, Mysuru City Corporation). They were booked under Prevention of Corruption Act, a Lokayukta police said.

Shashikanth H: DA worth Rs. 1,14,58,716. Proportion of Disproportionate Asset: 342.05 per cent.

Dr. N Karunakar: DA worth Rs. 2,28,31,091. Proportion of Disproportionate Asset: 96.33 per cent.
