Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka on April 18, 23

New Delhi/Bengaluru: Polling for the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies across Karnataka will be held in two phases on April 18 and April 23, with vote count on May 23.

“Polling will be held in Karnataka in two phases on April 18 for 14 seats and April 23 for another 14 seats. The vote count will be held on May 23,” Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora told reporters in New Delhi on Sunday.

In the first phase of polling will start on April 18 in 14 seats of Bengaluru South, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru North, Bengaluru Central, Mysuru, Mandya, Tumkur, Chitradurga, Dakshina Kannada, Hasana, Udupi, Chamarajanagara, Kolar and Chikballapura.

In the second phase of polling on April 23 the remaining seats of Shimoga, Uttara Kannada, Chikkodi, Belagavi, Bijapura, Bagalakote, Kalburgi, Raichur, Koppala, Haveri, Bidar, Davanagere, Vijayapura and Dharwad will go into polls.

Polling in all the 28 parliamentary seats in the state in the 2014 general elections was, however, held in a single phase on April 17, 2014. Votes were counted on May 16, 2014.

The BJP had then won 17 seats, the Congress 9 seats and Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) two.
