Bengaluru: The Congress is likely to surrender Mysuru and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituencies to its alliance partner JDS.
A final decision in this regard will be taken at the AICC screening committee meeting scheduled today, March 11.
AICC president Rahul Gandhi will preside over the meeting in which AICC Karnataka in-charge KC Venugopal is participating.
According to the sources, the Congress central leadership, on Sunday evening communicated to former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that to save the Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha constituency for former CM Veerappa M Moily, Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency will be given to the JDS.
“Similarly to save Tumakuru constituency for incumbent MP CS Muddahanumegowda of the party, Udupi -Chikkamagaluru constituency will be given to the JDS,” said Congress state leaders.
It is said that the JDS hardly has any presence in Udupi -Chikkamagaluru constituency. “Similarly in Mysuru-Kodagu, if the seat is handed over to the JDS, it will be a cakewalk for incumbent MP Pratap Simha,” said a senior Congress leader.
