
Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced that the state’s current Covid-19 lockdown will continue until June 7.
“The government has provided us with general directions on how to adhere to containment measures up to June 30. Until June 7th, there will be no changes to the current limits, “minister stated.
He further stated that in a few days, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will convene a conference of ministers and experts to make a final decision.
“The positive rate and number of cases in the state have decreased, and we can control the virus if every citizen supports us,” he continued.
The Karnataka government had initially announced a 14-day lockdown beginning April 27 but has now extended it until June 7 due to an increase in the number of cases.
The Chief Minister of Karnataka has announced a compensation package worth Rs. 1,250 crores to help individuals whose livelihoods have been impacted by the lockdown.
In Karnataka, there are 350,087 ongoing cases, with 21,89,064 patients having been discharged so far. The number of people who have died in the state has risen to 28,298.
