On Friday, in Ganagalu hamlet in Hoskote on the outskirts of Bengaluru, a woman was struck by lightning and instantly perished. In the afternoon, Bengaluru and the neighboring areas experienced strong gusts, thunder, and moderate rain.
Rathnamma, 55, of Ganagalu has been identified as the dead. About 2:00 pm, she was struck by lightning as her goats were grazing. 48 goats perished in all in the incident. The police at Tirumalashetty Halli have reported an unusual death.
Her two boys and her husband survive Rathnamma. The government of the Bengaluru Rural District has declared that Rathnamma’s family will receive an ex-gratia of Rs 6 lakh. A police officer has stated that on Saturday, Rs 4 lakh of the total will be given.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) reports that rain fell at Nayandahalli (29.50 mm), RR Nagar (29 mm), Maruthi Mandir (26.50 mm), Bilekahalli (24 mm), and Horamavu (17.50 mm) during the study period. For the next two days, the city is expected to get mild to moderate rain, according to authorities at the India Meteorological Department.
