Bengaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the murder of Gauri Lankesh has taken custody of Sudhanva Gondalekar, who was under the CBI’s custody, through a body warrant.
Gondalekar was recently arrested by the Maharastra Anti-Terrorism Squad, who also seized live bullets and 12 revolvers from him. He was produced before a court on Friday, September 7 and was handed over to the SIT, who will have custody of him for the next 14 days.
So far, the weapon that was used in the Lankesh murder ha not been found and the SIT authorities believe that one of these 12 revolvers seized from Gondalekar could be the murder weapon. The SIT asked to take custody of Gondalekar to ascertain whether or not they are right about the revolver.
According to the police, 10 days after the killing of the Gauri Lankesh, Gondalekar had visited a shop in Bengaluru and collected the revolver used in the Lankesh murder.
