Bengaluru: Over 1.31 lakh people thronged to the Lalbagh Botanical garden, on Friday, January 26 to have a glimpse of the Shravanabelagola Gommatagiri model, built within the glass house as part of the Republic Day flower show organised here.

Speaking to media persons, Department of Horticulture Deputy Director M R Chandrashekhar said that it being a holiday on Friday, the number of visitors at the flower show had exceeded beyond their expectations-90,480 adults, 6,305 children, 26,830 school children and 5,950 pass bearers visited the garden and the collections went upto Rs 55.55 Lakh.

Despite parking arrangements being made in all four corners of the garden, a scarcity of parking space was observed due to people turning out in large numbers causing heavy traffic near the garden throughout the day. Security guards, police had to struggle a lot to control the public at all four entrances of the garden.

In the last eight days, 3.29 lakh people have visited the flower show, including 1.31 Lakh on Friday alone. The Horticulture department has earned Rs 1.20 Crore through this.
