Bengaluru: A lady police sub-inspector attempted suicide by consuming different tablets at her Rajajinagar police quarters on Tuesday afternoon, July 19.

Roopa Tambad (34), native of Davanagere, attached to the Vijayanagar police station, was rushed to Suguna Hospital on Dr Rajkumar Road. According to hospital sources, her condition in ICU is said to be stable.

A heated argument with Vijayanagar police station inspector Sanjeev Gowda over an old case is the main reason behind her attempt to end life.

According to Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Charan Reddy, who visited the hospital, Roopa went straight to her flat and consumed the tablets. When her husband Nataraj, an advocate returned home at about 4 pm, found her in semi-conscious state. He rushed her to the nearby Suguna hospital immediately.

Roopa and Gowda had an argument over a recovered cellphone that was misplaced. She was upset as Gowda claimed that she was in possession of the phone.

She had moved a requisition two weeks ago seeking transfer to Basaveshwarnagar police station due to differences with inspector Gowda.

Roopa joined police service in 2009. She is the daughter of Karibasappa, a vegetable vendor in Kurki village of Davanagere district. She has two-year-old child.
