Bengaluru: Chief Minister lashed out at JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy for his continued allegations over expensive watch on Saturday and said that HDK is not able to tolerate the fact that a backward class leader had become the Chief minister.
Siddaramaiah reacting to HDK’s remarks, said, “JD(S) state president is jealous because I am the CM. His allegations are politically motivated and he is attempting to tarnish my image. They are baseless and untrue. Issue is not so big that I have to bring it up before the High Command,” he said.

Earlier, HDK during a press conference had claimed that Siddaramaiah eats from a silver plate everyday. To this CM responded by saying that he was not a fool to carry a silver plate in a bag with him wherever he goes.

The issue of expensive watch involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has not come to an end. HDK last week raked up the issue that the CM is wearing a luxury watch costing Rs 70 lakhs. However, CM had rubbished all the allegations made by the JD(S) leader and declared the watch as state asset. He revealed that the expensive watch was gifted to him by his close friend since 1983, (NRI) Gopal Pillai Girish Chandra Verma who visited India last July.
