Bengaluru: A video clip of Kudachi MLA P Rajeev of BSR Congress has cropped up where he is seen warning the police personnel that the police station would be set on fire if they harass innocent people, demand money from them or attempt to fix them in false cases.
Rajeev, a police officer turned politician, the 1.18 min video clip is found warning the personnel from Raibag Circle Inspector of Police office who had reportedly threatened Basappa Bhajantri of Nidagundi village in Raibag taluk that he would be fixed in a case of suicide of a woman.
In the video, Rajeev tells the police personnel that on the day the woman committed suicide, Bhajantri had accompanied him for the poll campaigning.
It is said that the police had demanded Rs one lac from Bhajantri and later settled down for RS 45,000 so that he could be left out of the case.
However, Bhajantri had fled the village fearing police action.
Rajeev had told a newspaper that the statement was made in fit of rage because he was upset by the way the police were functioning.
“Police must safeguard the innocent,” he said.
Earlier this week, a video of Rajeev abusing a surveyor in filthy language had gone viral on social media.
